About

Hi, I’m Marc. I make games, teach people to make things, and occasionally make a fool of myself on stage.

I’ve been making games for a good long while. 24 Game Poems came out around 2010, back before anyone was calling them lyric games, and the catalog has sprawled since: two-player buddy adventures, a Philip K. Dick hallucination engine, a solo journaling game about being eaten by grackles, a megadungeon in six zines, and a card game about a space station falling apart around Mercury.

Majcher Arcana is the name I publish under. It’s me, a lot of index cards, and a stack of tea-stained paper.

When I’m not writing games, I’m usually running them—at conventions, on Twitch, or at Games on Demand. I come at design from improv and theater as much as from the tabletop, and I spent about twenty-five years writing software and a decade teaching it, mostly at coding bootcamps. These days I’m more interested in design, facilitation, and helping other people make their weird thing.

Community copies

Almost every paid game has free community copies. If they’re gone and you still want one, email me. I’d rather you play it.
